2018 marks the 50th anniversary of arguably Elvis’ crowning achievement in his spectacular career; The 68 Comeback Special.
This televised event made history as it saw Elvis return to performing in front of a live audience after years of being trapped making movies in Hollywood. Elvis dressed in black leather, in the white ‘If I Can Dream’ suit and many other parts of this event have gone down in the books as being some of the most iconic images of Elvis. It quite simply is a major moment, in not just Elvis’ legacy, but in modern popular culture.
CinEvents, ABG and Fathom are thrilled to bring the Elvis ’68 Comeback Special to the big screen in celebration of the special’s 50th Anniversary for a special cinema event starting on August 16th. See the iconic television special starring singer Elvis Presley, that originally aired on December 3, 1968. It marked Elvis Presley ’s return to live performance and re-launched his singing career. This anniversary event includes the legendary television special, plus an exclusive look at the making of the special, featuring a walkthrough of the NBC soundstage with insights from producer Steve Binder and Priscilla Presley.
Chains confirmed currently include ODEON, Cineworld, Vue, Showcase, Picturehouse, Everyman, Empire, Light, Savoy, Omniplex and then a large number of local/independent cinemas across the country.
For any European followers, the event is confirmed to take place so far in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland.
