BAD NAUHEIM AND GI BLUES TOUR
In 1960 Elvis was out of the Army and back in Hollywood. The first movie he appeared in after his military service is a fan favourite to this day, and a role that was very appropriate for that time in Elvis’ life - G.I. Blues. Join us as we celebrate the making of G.I. Blues with a very special Elvis Travel Service tour. We’ll explore the locations of the movie, as well as Elvis’ military service, and explore Bad Nauheim and Friedberg – where he lived and was based whilst in the US Army in Germany - in this great long weekend break. And the ‘bonus’ is?....we’ll be staying in the very hotel in Bad Nauheim in which Elvis lived for part of his tour of duty.
Day 1. Thursday 12th October 2023
Morning flight to Frankfurt. You’ll board the coach for the drive to Bad Nauheim and to our home for the next few days – the Hotel
Villa Grunewald in the heart of Bad Nauheim. This hotel is where Elvis actually lived for a number of months and much of the hotel
is exactly as it was when he was there. We’ll show you the very room Elvis had during his stay and still furnished as it was then.

Day 2. Friday 13th October 2023
After breakfast at the hotel we’ll take a walking tour of Bad Nauheim. As always with the Elvis Travel Service you’ll get the most comprehensive tour possible. We’ll show you dozens of Elvis sights including where Elvis lived, shopped, socialised and had some of his most famous pictures taken during his military service. You’ll also get to see the many bars, restaurants, shops and cafes that this beautiful little town has to offer and have time for independent exploration.
Afternoon and evening at leisure.
Day 3. Saturday 14th October 2023
Breakfast at hotel. Today is our fantastic G.I. Blues day! We’ll board the coach for a full day’s tour of some of the locations used during the film. We’ll visit historic Idstein, Wiesbaden and the beautiful wine town of Rudesheim on the banks of the River Rhine. You’ll also get the chance to ride the Seilbahn Rudesheim cable car, which you’ll remember from the famous ‘Pocketful of Rainbows’ scene in the movie. Early evening return to Bad Nauheim. Rest of evening at leisure.
Day 4. Sunday 15th October 2023
Breakfast at hotel. This morning we’ll board our very own ‘Frankfurt Special’ for a short train ride to nearby Friedberg, where the Army barracks that Elvis served at are located. Although long closed down, we will get to see the main gate and the areas around the barracks. There will also be time to grab a coffee and cake and see the rest of this lovely little town including its picturesque castle.
We’ll return to Bad Nauheim just after lunchtime where there’s time to explore the town, walk in its beautiful parks or maybe take a trip up to the top of the Johannisberg hilltop for stunning views over the surrounding area. This evening
we’ll have drinks at the hotel, with the opportunity to view the Elvis room.
Day 5. Monday 16th October 2023
Breakfast at hotel. Mid-morning departure to Frankfurt. En-route we’ll call into the quaint village of Steinfurth. Known mainly for its growing of roses, the village was also where Elvis and his platoon helped erect a war memorial. We’ll also stop in the town of Bad Homburg to see the former Ritters Park Hotel. Elvis stayed at the hotel in October 1958, and was the setting for iconic photos of Elvis and local fans. Mid-afternoon flight to the UK.

With just 16 bedrooms this hotel is one of the most elegant and sought-after places to stay – especially because this is where Elvis lived for much of his time in Bad Nauheim...and we’ve booked the whole hotel for our ‘house party’ in October! Located overlooking the beautiful Spa Gardens and Park in the centre of the town it is within easy walking distance of the Elvis sights, shops, bars and restaurants. The rooms (except for the one that Elvis had which has been kept as it was) are all modern with private bathrooms and the hotel has a small restaurant and Lobby Bar but many who repeatedly stay here say that its biggest asset (other than the Elvis connection, of course) are the friendly, welcoming staff. A continental breakfast is included.

Travel Insurance
It is mandatory that all passengers have suffcient travel insurance. Cover is not e_ective until the premium has been paid and your application approved by the insurers.
Flights
The flights will be economy class on British Airways or Lufthansa and the tour price is based on fares current at the time of printing this brochure.
Your flight timings will be advised to you on your Confirmation- Invoice. Please note we are able to provide flights from other regional airports but only if the timings fall in line with those of the main London flights.

Travel Documents
Upon receipt of your deposit (and obviously subject to places being available) you will be sent a Confirmation-Invoice. Approximately two weeks before departure you will be sent a Travel Wallet containing your E-Ticket/s, baggage tags, a final detailed itinerary and tour joining instructions.
Exchange Rates
The tour price is based on the rate of exchange as of 11th October 2022

Passports and Visas
A Passport issued by the UK or a member of the European Union and valid for at least 6 months after the return date of
travel is required for this tour. No Visas (or vaccinations) are required by British Citizens. Holders of other countries
passports should check with the German Embassy with regard to visa requirements.

A deposit of £250 is required when you make your booking and the balance needs to be settled by 12 weeks prior to
