Memphis, Tupelo, Hawaii and Seattle

Wednesday 19th April to Thursday 4th May 2023

Wednesday 19th April 2023

Morning departure from London’s Heathrow* Airport for the flight to the USA. We’ll clear through US Immigration & Customs at a ‘Gateway’ airport before taking our onward flight to Memphis. Coach transfer to the hotel.

Remainder of the evening at leisure, perhaps for your first look at the beautiful Graceland mansion.

Thursday 20th April

Morning visit to Graceland. Your ‘Elvis Experience + Airplanes Pass’ entitles you to a self-guided tour of the mansion plus access to the all new Elvis Presley’s Entertainment Complex with admission to Elvis’ aircraft, the Presley Motors Automobile Museum and other Elvis exhibits – so much of the day will be taken up with those.

Evening at leisure – why not enjoy dinner at Marlowes situated on Elvis Presley Boulevard – a well known Memphis restaurant that’s popular with Elvis fans.

Friday 21st April

Another real treat today as we head south, over the Mississippi State Line and on to Tupelo, the town where Elvis was born. We’ll first of all take you to the Birthplace itself – a humble building that’s now the most popular attraction in the whole of the State. Time here to also visit the Elvis Museum, the Visitor Centre, the church that Elvis attended and to stroll through the lovely landscaped grounds. Then it’s back on the coach for a guided tour of the sights of Tupelo and we’ll show you lots of places that are so relevant to Elvis’ life here. Time for photo’s and a bit of exploring before we take you to a large shopping mall – a great place to eat and to have some retail therapy before we head back to Memphis, arriving in the mid-evening.

Saturday 22nd April

Full day at leisure. An opportunity to visit the museums and other attractions of Memphis – perhaps taking in the famous Duck Parade in the lobby of the historic Peabody Hotel and to pop into Lansky’s clothes store whilst

there, visit the Rock & Soul, the Cotton or the National Civil Rights Museums, or take a delightful cruise on the mighty Mississippi River. Memphis is a fascinating city and you certainly won’t be at a loss for something to

Throughout today and some evenings the Elvis Travel Service Shuttle Bus will operate between the hotel and Downtown Memphis and you might like to join your Tour Manager for a visit to Beale Street for dinner or to sample the incredible atmosphere of this music mecca - possibly the most famous (and definitely most exciting) music street in the world.

Sunday 23rd April

Today we’ll have a full day’s comprehensive guided sightseeing tour of Elvis’ Memphis, starting with the Circle G Ranch before heading downtown and taking you to all the major sights of the city but with emphasis on Elvis’ life here. You’ll see where he lived, where he went to school, performed and shopped and lots more besides. It includes a tour of the famous Sun Studio and a visit to the Presley family’s Lauderdale Courts apartment. Evening free.

Monday 24th April

Morning at leisure. Time perhaps for a last ‘free’ walk-up to pay your respects at Graceland’s Meditation Garden or to buy those last-minute souvenirs before the late morning transfer to the airport to join your flight travelling overnight to the UK.

Tuesday 25th April

Mid-morning arrival into Heathrow Airport.

One thing is for sure – whilst Elvis loved his Graceland home in Memphis, Tennessee, his next favourite place just had to be Hawaii. He adored it there and as we look through the many photo’s or videos taken of Elvis on ‘the islands’ it must have been a truly happy place for him. But Elvis didn’t just go there to vacation, he made three movies ‘Blue Hawaii’, ‘Girls, Girls, Girls!’ and ‘Paradise,Hawaiian Style’ there and he also performed a total of 9 concerts including one of his most famous – ‘Aloha from Hawaii’ which was broadcast worldwide via Satellite.

So come with us on a wonderful journey of Elvis discovery as we share the sights and sounds of the islands, visit the places where Elvis was filmed for those movies, where he performed and where he relaxed and enjoyed the company of family and friends.

And as a bonus we’ve split the return flight in two with a 2-night layover in the beautiful city of Seattle, seeing the movie location sights of ‘It Happened at the World’s Fair’ (while celebrating its 60th Anniversary) and even staying in the luxury hotel where Elvis’ once stayed.

Monday 24th April 2023

Departure from Heathrow (stopping on route to clear US Immigration and Customs and to change planes) for your flight to Honolulu where, on arrival (and after receiving the traditional Lei greeting) you’ll be taken to the excellent Park Shore Waikiki Hotel overlooking Waikiki Beach.

Tuesday 25th April

A real treat today as we tour Honolulu and the Island of Oahu. We’ll see all the Elvis and other major sights of this, the State Capital, including the Elvis statue outside the Neal S Blaisdell Centre, Iolani Palace and Diamond Head before heading around the island to see Elvis movie location sites and to visit a Pineapple Plantation.

Wednesday 26th April

Today we offer an Optional visit to the Polynesian Cultural Centre, Hawaii’s most popular attraction. Featured heavily in the movie Paradise, Hawaiian Style you’ll have much of the day to explore and to experience seven Polynesian Villages, each represented by their own island culture. Enjoy an informative orientation at each village with hands on activities – for instance you could try your hand at Tahitian Spear Throwing, paddle your own canoe or learn to cook Samoan-style. This evening enjoy the Ali’I Luau and Buffet a dramatic and costumed procession and celebration of Hawaii’s cultural heritage followed by a veritable feast before sitting back and enjoying the HĀ: Breath of Life Evening Show featuring fiery volcanoes, brilliant fountains and numerous special effects in a story of passion ignited by fire, song and dance.

Thursday 27th April

Up early today for a visit to Pearl Harbour and the USS Arizona Memorial of which Elvis was a major benefactor by donating the whole of the $60,000 proceeds of the special concert on 25th March 1961. The visit at Pearl Harbour begins with film footage of the 7th December 1941 attack. You will then travel by boat to the USS Arizona Memorial which stands above the sunken battleship where more than 1,100 of the ship’s crewmen lost their lives. While at Pearl Harbour you will have time to go onboard the Battleship Missouri, also known as the Mighty Mo, hear colourful stories of the ship’s history and stand where Gen. Douglas MacArthur accepted the Surrender from Japan                                                                                        that ultimately ended World War II.

Friday 28th April

Full day at leisure or you could take the Optional Excursion by air to the beautiful island of Kauai. Known as ‘The Garden Isle’ because of its lush vegetation and stunning views this was where much of the filming was done for Blue Hawaii and some for Paradise, Hawaiian Style. We’ve teamed up with Bob Jasper, an Elvis fan and movie expert who was a leading campaigner to save the Coco Palms Hotel after it was devastated by Hurricane Iniki in 1992 and, subject to availability, have arranged to visit the site of the old resort hotel and to see the lagoon as well as other location sites used in Blue Hawaii.

We will also tour much of the island and you’ll soon see why it was selected for Elvis’ movies and for others as well – including blockbusters such as South Pacific, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Avatar and Pirates of the Caribbean. Further details including the price, timings etc will be forwarded to all who book nearer the time when accurate prices/ availability will be known.

Saturday 29th April

Another day in paradise. What’s it to be, a laze on the beach, a visit to the hotels that Elvis stayed in, some souvenir shopping perhaps and this evening how about a visit to Honolulu’s Hard Rock Café?

Sunday 30th April

Full day at leisure – an opportunity to relax on fabulous Waikiki Beach. This evening tho’ we’ve arranged an Optional Sunset Dinner Cruise aboard ‘Star of Honolulu’. As you step aboard this award-winning sightseeing cruise liner you’ll be handed a complimentary Mai Tai cocktail (good start!) and then have time to explore the 4 panoramic observation decks enjoying the views of the Hawaiian sunset and coastline. There’s fun Hawaiian music and entertainment during the ‘all-you-can eat’ crab and beef tenderloin dinner and afterwards there’s a new Broadway-style show to entertain you and following that there’s dancing to a live band...a great way to

end your fabulous Hawaiian experience.

Monday 1st May

Morning transfer to Honolulu International Airport in order for you to connect with our flight to Seattle, arriving in the late evening. Transfer to our luxury hotel, the Seattle Fairmont Olympic Hotel.

Tuesday 2nd May

Morning guided walking tour of downtown Seattle and Elvis sights including those of Elvis’ movie ‘It Happened at the World’s Fair’. We’ll see many of the filming locations within the site of the 1962 World’s Fair that was held in Seattle including the over 600ft high Space Needle.

The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of Seattle – the largest city in Washington State. Take in the bustling atmosphere of Pike Place Market, visit the famous Seattle Aquarium, take a ride on the Great Wheel, visit some of the stunning parks and gardens for which the city is famous or immerse yourself in the galleries and museums including the fascinating Flight Museum, the Klondike Gold Rush Museum or even the Pinball Museum!

Most of the day at leisure for you to continue exploring before we head for the airport to board our direct overnight flight to the UK.

Special Note

Please note that the tour prices are based on the estimated air fare, airport taxes and security charges at the time of printing this brochure (15th June 2022) as the major airlines will not issue their Group Contracts and fares more than 11 months prior to the return date of any tour. We will advise you of any fare increases at that stage and although unlikely if it does increase the tour price then we are happy to allow you to cancel at that stage with a full refund of monies paid….can’t be fairer than that can we? Also, with world events currently causing turmoil with oil prices it isn’t possible at this stage to ascertain whether the airlines or coach companies will impose a fuel surcharge

If you are travelling alone but would like to share(either for company or to keep the cost down) we will gladly endeavour to pair you up with another fan of similar age/gender sharing a twin-bedded room. This is something that we regularly do and have found that

long-lasting friendships are formed as a result. Should it not be possible to pair you up you would be offered single accommodation at the appropriate price.

It is mandatory that all passengers have sufficient travel insurance. Please telephone America as you like it on 020 8742 8299 who will be pleased to recommend cover for you. The Spring time weather in Memphis and Tupelo should average around a High of 24’C and a night time Low of 14’C so perfect for sightseeing but best to bring along a jacket or sweater for any chilly evenings.

In Hawaii the temperatures should be between a daytime High of 28’C and a night-time Low of 20’c so great for both sightseeing and on the beach but bring along the sun screen lotion, and in Seattle the temperatures are likely to be within a High of 20’C

and a Low of 12’C so that jacket may be required in the evenings. It is not the ‘rainy season’ in any of these places so rainfall is unlikely but it’s always a good idea to take an umbrella…just in case!
